If you’d asked me years ago where my career would take me, I don’t think I would’ve guessed this path or anything close to it. What I do know is that every role, challenge, and person I’ve worked with has shaped me in some way.
I started out in retail, working my way up to Store Manager and Area Co-Ordinator. It was fast-paced, slightly chaotic at times, and taught me a lot about organisation, leadership, and keeping calm when everything is happening at once. From training teams to managing operations across multiple stores, it gave me skills I still use every day.
But I always knew I wanted something more meaningful, something where I could genuinely make a difference.
That led me into support work, which became far more than just a job. For over 14 years, I’ve supported neurodiverse adults and individuals with additional needs across supported living, vocational settings, and even in helping people run their own businesses.
No two days were ever the same and that’s exactly why I loved it.
From helping with daily structure and confidence-building, to supporting with finances, admin, social media, websites, and attending meetings or events, it was always about being there in a way that actually made life easier for people.
What’s always mattered most to me is people. Real, person-centred support, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Over time, I also took on leadership and safeguarding responsibilities, mentored teams, facilitated meetings, and became a Mental Health First Aider. All of this reinforced my ability to stay calm, adaptable, and organised, even when things get busy (which they usually do).
Eventually, this naturally evolved into my work as a Virtual Assistant and Business Support Worker, combining my business background with my support experience.
Today, I help clients with admin, inboxes, diaries, social media, websites, and general business organisation using tools like Microsoft Office, Canva, Zoom, and WordPress. Essentially, I help bring order to the chaos so people can actually focus on running their business.
Looking back, every stage has taught me something... retail gave me structure, support work gave me perspective, and leadership gave me resilience.
When I’m not working, I live in the North East of England with my partner, Jason, and our cat, Pepper, who definitely keeps life entertaining!
One of my biggest passions outside of work is travel. I’ve been lucky enough to visit some incredible places over the years, including Australia and Brazil, and I’m always dreaming about where to explore next. I love learning about different cultures, meeting new people, and experiencing the little things that make each place unique. Some destinations still high on my bucket list include Singapore, Sweden, and Alaska.
Travel has given me a real appreciation for people, connection, and understanding different perspectives, something that naturally carries into the way I work with others too.
I’m also someone who loves discovering new experiences and staying curious about the world around me. Whether it’s watching documentaries, attending concerts and theatre shows, exploring museums, reading, listening to music, or simply meeting new people, I enjoy anything that inspires learning, creativity, and connection.
At the heart of everything I do, both personally and professionally, is a genuine passion for people, growth, and making a positive difference wherever I can.
Writing this has actually made me stop and think properly about my journey, which is something I don’t think I’ve done enough of until now.
When you’re busy supporting other people, working, learning, and just getting on with life, it’s easy not to notice how far you’ve actually come. But looking back… I can see it clearly now.
I’m genuinely proud of the person I’ve become, the experiences I’ve had, and the difference I’ve been able to make along the way. Every role has shaped me into someone who is more resilient, more understanding, and always willing to keep learning and growing.... and honestly? I’m excited.
Because I really do believe there’s always more to come, more to learn, more people to meet, and more ways to grow both personally and professionally.
And after all of this… I think it’s safe to say I’ve come further than I ever gave myself credit for. For the first time in a while, I’m really proud of that and I'm excited to see what the future holds.
